Netflix paid roughly $587 million in cash to acquire InterPositive, the AI post-production startup co-founded by actor-director Ben Affleck, according to a regulatory filing that put a number on a deal the company had kept quiet for months.
A price hidden until now
The figure surfaced in Netflix's Form 10-Q for the quarter ended June 30, 2026. The acquisition itself closed in March 2026, but Netflix disclosed no financial terms at the time; the filing is the first confirmation of the $587 million cash price. InterPositive had operated in stealth since Affleck founded it in 2022.
What the startup builds
InterPositive develops models aimed squarely at the finishing stages of filmmaking. Its tools let editors relight shots from production dailies, adjust color, replace backgrounds and add visual effects — work that traditionally consumes weeks of specialist labor. The pitch is speed and flexibility in post-production rather than fully generated footage, a distinction that matters in an industry wary of AI replacing crews.
Talent comes with the deal
InterPositive's 16-person team of engineers, researchers and creatives has joined Netflix, with Affleck himself staying on as a senior adviser. That structure — a small, high-caliber team folded into a larger platform while the founder keeps a foot in — mirrors the acqui-hire logic reshaping AI talent across the industry.
Netflix leans in
The purchase fits a broader push: Netflix has said generative AI is now involved in roughly 300 of its productions, and owning a post-production toolchain outright gives it leverage that licensing a third-party tool would not.
