China Published the First Binding Safety Standard for L3 and L4 Driving. It Does Not Mention Lidar.
GB 44721-2026 turns a 2024 voluntary specification into a mandatory national standard, effective July 2027. A widely repeated claim that it forces lidar onto L4 vehicles and outlaws camera-only systems is not in the text.
